Overview
This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate a Roller in the civil construction industry. It includes:
- Planning and preparing for roller operations
- Operate roller in line with established requirements
- Prepare to relocate the roller
- Conduct housekeeping activities
Entry Requirements
- Competent in written and spoken English
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Be able to provide 2 forms of identification
Learning Outcomes
- Conduct pre-start and shut down procedures
- Driving and operating the equipment to site conditions
- Completion of operations to specifications using different materials and completing compacting, sealing & finishing and adjusting roller components.
- Assisting with relocating
- Parking and securing equipment
Assessment process
Assessing will be completed at the client’s workplace, using client supplied equipment. Assessment is a combination of theory and practical components. Recognition of Prior Learning is also available for experienced individuals.
- Training and Assessment is conducted on behalf of SDS Training.
- SDS Training issue Statements of Attainment and qualifications.
Verification of Competency (VOC) can also be completed at the client’s workplace, using client supplied equipment.

On Completion
On successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in RIIMPO317F Conduct roller operations, a competency card is available on request.
